OZZY And Family Sign With MTV For More 'Osbournes'

MTV has signed Ozzy Osbourne and family for 20 new episodes of its hit reality series "The Osbournes", scheduled to begin airing early next year.

"It's been one hell of a journey these past few years," Ozzy told the Television Critics Association summer gathering. "This whole MTV thing has been an incredible adventure. We didn't want the adventure to end so soon."

"If you thought we wouldn't resign the Osbournes...you're crazy," MTV president Van Toffler said in a statement.

Ozzy's wife Sharon, currently in remission from colon cancer and prepping her own syndicated afternoon talk show, joked that "there's been a hollow empty feeling in [her] heart since the MTV crew left the Osbourne residence."

"How lucky am I to have MTV with us for another year filming home movies of my family...and pay us for it?" Sharon asked in a statement.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The clan's last contract was reported to be worth $20 million.

The Osbournes' first season, running from March-May 2002, averaged about 8 million viewers — a monster number for a cable show.

Since then, the show has "settled," per MTV, to about 6.6 million viewers at the start of the second season in November, down to about 3 million for the second half of the second season (sometimes referred to as the third season) this summer.
